Motion Hearings
With the consent of the other party, either party can request the rescheduling of a motion hearing. If consent from the other party is not obtained, a motion hearing will not be rescheduled.
Requirements

Requests should be submitted at least five (5) days prior to the original hearing date.

Complete a Reschedule Referee Motion Hearing Form.**

All parties must reach an agreement as to the next available date the parties will be ready to proceed.
If your hearing is scheduled before the Assigned Referee in the Penobscot Building 645 Griswold Detroit, MI - please fax your request to the Referee Support Staff at (313) 237-9268.
** If neither party is represented by an attorney, each party must complete and fax separate rescheduling forms. Both forms must be received before a hearing will be rescheduled.
Administrative Hearings (excluding Show Cause Hearings***)
Requests to reschedule hearings that were administratively initiated by the Friend of the Court must be done by contacting the Referee’s Support Staff by telephone (see Referee Support Telephone List) or faxing a written request to (313) 237-9268. Both parties must consent to the request before a hearing can be rescheduled.

Requirements

*** Show Cause Hearings cannot be rescheduled. If the non-custodial parent fails to appear, a bench warrant may be issued against him or her.
