The Michigan Legal Help Self-Help of Wayne County

In cooperation with Michigan Legal Help, the Third Judicial Circuit Court sponsors the Self-Help Center of Wayne County at two locations. The Self-Help Centers are located in the Penobscot Building at 645 Griswold, 11th Floor, in the FOC space, Room 1145, Detroit, MI 48226 and the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center at Two Woodward Avenue, Courtroom 1901, Detroit, MI 48226. The Center at the Penobscot Building is currently closed until further notice. The hours for the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center location are 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Clients must be signed in by 1:45 p.m. The Self-Help Center is staffed by ‘navigators’ who assist visitors with the website and answer questions regarding the navigation tools, court practices, and processes. Navigators are not lawyers and cannot give legal advice. The Self-Help staff will provide reasonable accommodations to ensure full and equal access of their services and assist the Third Circuit Court by providing reading services to the visually impaired court users. Court staff may contact the Self-Help Coordinator at selfhelp@3rdcc.org with questions regarding the Center.
