Subject:Wayne County Circuit Court Family Division-Domestic Relations Expansion of Services

Detroit, MI – After several weeks of operating essential services only, the Wayne County Circuit Court Family Division-Domestic Relations Section expanded services commencing May 11, 2020. At that time, both judicial and referee hearings resumed and are being conducted via Zoom until further notice. For hearings conducted May 11, 2020 forward, the Court has sent electronic notices to parties and/or attorneys for all judicial hearings and the Friend of the Court will be sending notices regarding the referee hearings.

If a party or attorney has not received their electronic notice for their judicial hearing or received their notice or communication regarding their referee hearing, they may contact the judge’s or referee’s courtroom at the email addresses listed at http://www.3rdcc.org/zoom. Parties and attorneys can always check their case status at http://www.3rdcc.org/odyssey-public-access-(opa). Further, if a party or attorney signs up for the Case Reminder Service at http://www.3rdcc.org/CaseReminderService, they will receive notifications by text or email of their hearing date.

As the Family Division-Domestic Relations Section transitions from an in-person “paper” world to an electronic world, there are several resources available on the Court’s website to assist parties and attorneys in navigating the new electronic systems.

As the Family Division-Domestic Relations Section location at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center will remain closed to the public, all Domestic Relations filings must be done remotely. Filings may be done via email, fax, or mail.

Information on how to file pleadings at this time may be found at http://www.3rdcc.org/divisions/family-domestic/emergency-and-non-emergency-filings.

Information on filing Personal Protection Orders may be found at http://www.3rdcc.org/divisions/family-domestic/personal-protection-order-filing-instructions
