Canada Day is the national day of Canada. A federal statutory holiday, it celebrates the anniversary of July 1, 1867, the effective date of the Constitution Act, 1867, which united the three separate colonies of the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada. Canada Day celebrations take place throughout the country. Canada became a "Kingdom in its own right" within the British Empire commonly known as the Dominion of Canada. Although still a British Colony, Canada gained an increase level of political control and governance over its own affairs. Canada gradually gained independence over the years, notably with the passage of the Statute of Westminster in 1931 until finally becoming completely independent with the passing of the Constitution Act, 1982 which served to fully patriate the Canadian Constitution.

Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subordinate to the monarch of Britain and were now united, free, and independent states. The Congress had voted to declare independence two days earlier, on July 2, but it was not declared until July 4.

National Disability Independence Day commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990. The Americans with Disability Act provides protection from employment discrimination, as well as better access to goods, services, and communications for people with disabilities.

International Day of Friendship is a day for celebrating friendships. The day is a popular celebration in several countries throughout the world since it was first proposed in Paraguay in 1958. Some friends acknowledge each other with exchanges of gifts and cards. Friendship bands are also popular in certain parts of the world. With the advent of social networking sites, Friendship Day is also being celebrated online.
