June is Pride Month and one of the most lasting images of the recognition of the LGBTQIA+ community is the pride flag. While there are multiple variations of the pride flag, one of the more common versions features six colors, all of which represent an important value of the community. Outlined below is what each color signifies.
Red represents life.
Red is not only the color of blood, which is necessary for all humans, but it also represents passion among many cultures.
Orange represents healing.
Orange is widely considered to be a fun and celebratory color. Fun and celebration are both healing activities.
Yellow represents sunlight.
The color yellow also is believed to stimulate new ideas and thoughts.
Green represents nature.
Nature is a healing place, and the color green is associated with prosperity and growth.
Blue/indigo represents serenity.
Many feel blue can lead to individual feelings of calm and relaxation. As a result blue is often used for nighttime consumer products to help stimulate sleep.
Purple/violet represents spirit.
Purple is often thought of as a regal, royal color that, on its own, denotes pride and can connect people to a spiritual realm.
