ORDER
AMENDED COURTHOUSE ENTRY/MAKSING
This order, regarding mask policy for those using Third Circuit Court and Wayne
County Probate Court facilities, provides updated guidance related to the use of protective masks.
After a review of guidance and recommendations from
the Centers for Disease Control, the Wayne County Department of Health, Veterans and Human Services and data regarding the community infection level and hospitalization rate, it is hereby ordered as follows:
Effective January 3, 2023:
- In public areas, the Third Circuit Court and Wayne County Probate Court facilities recommend, but do not mandate masks.
- The Third Circuit and Wayne County Probate Court recommend and encourage masks for jurors while serving in the trial courtrooms. Each judge reserves the right to direct those in the courtroom to wear masks.
- The Third Circuit and Wayne County Probate Court recommend and encourage masks for court staff working in close proximity with other staff and/or the public.
- The Third Circuit and Wayne County Probate Court recommend masks for unvaccinated individuals in the Third Circuit Court and Wayne County Probate Court facilities. It also recommends masks for those with underlying medical conditions as noted in the
Centers for Disease Control guidelines.
- The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends KN95, N95 surgical, or multilayered cloth masks. The CDC does not recommend masks with vents or face-shields. If a person does not have a mask, the Court will provide one.
