Trial Court Services

Mission

The mission of the Trial Court Services Department is to provide indigent defendants with effective counsel pursuant to the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution and Gideon vs. Wainwright in criminal matters.

Overview

The primary function of Trial Court Services is to carry out the provisions set forth in the Local Administrative Order (LAO) 2014-06.

  • Maintaining an attorney eligibility list
  • Coordinating Judicial and House Counsel assignments
  • Ensuring the Court is in compliance with its contractual agreement with Legal Aid and Defenders Association (a.k.a LADA) as outlined in Supreme Court Administrative Order 1997-5
  • Monitoring assignment limits
  • Forwarding complaints and/or concerns regarding potential violations of the LAO on Plan for Assignment of Counsel in Third Circuit Court
  • Serving as the liaison between ancillary entities and TCS
