Subject: | Third Judicial Circuit to host Law Day on May 7 |
Detroit, MI – The Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan, in conjunction with the Barristers Section of the Detroit Bar and the Detroit Bar Association Foundation will host its annual Law Day Tuesday morning, May 7 at Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan in the Coleman A. Young Municipal Building in Detroit.
This event gives high school students from around the Detroit area the ability to learn more about the court system and its role in society. Students participate in an essay and scholarship contest, and present mock oral arguments before members of the Third Circuit bench during Law Day. Following those arguments, volunteer attorneys, judges, and court staff will have lunch with participating students and discuss the particulars of their profession.
Participating high schools include: Dearborn High School, Detroit Cass Technical High School, Detroit Northwestern High School and Detroit Western International High School.
The Third Judicial Court will host five panels on Law Day. Opportunities remain for lawyers willing to volunteer their time by contacting Antonia Giles at AGiles@dykema.com or Blake Padget at padget@butzel.com.
